Expansion will increase current single-shift operation to three shifts over next few weeks to support new and existing capacity requirements
Grand Rapids, MI –Western Michigan-based TG Manufacturing, a fully-integrated metals manufacturing company, today announced it has acquired Grand Rapids-based TurnKey Fabrication.
TurnKey Fabrication is an integrated fabrication operation with laser, auto feed laser, CNC brake press, machining, assembly and welding process capability. It operates and is headquartered in a 55,000-square-foot facility located in Grand Rapids. The company currently supplies a diverse group of customers in the gaming, industrial laboratory and defense industry, among others.
TG Manufacturing will carry forward the operations of the existing TurnKey facility. It will become a division of TGM’s Craft Steel operations in Byron Center, said TG Manufacturing Chief Executive Officer Rich Achtenberg.
“TurnKey will assist us in expanding both capacity and markets of our metal fabrication division,” Achtenberg said. “The synergies of a Craft Steel-TurnKey combination will allow for a more responsive and rapid turnaround to meet customer demands. Our continued drive toward vertical process integration is greatly enhanced with this acquisition.”
Utilizing TG Manufacturing’s global network, advanced manufacturing technology and quality systems and integrating them into TurnKey’s process capability and access to new markets will drive a stronger organization.
“This acquisition not only supports the expansion of TG Manufacturing, it broadens the process capabilities for both companies. Turnkey Fabrication will focus on its integration and assembly of electrical gaming products and outsource its fabrication to TGM,” said TurnKey Fabrication CEO Les Onan. “The seamless partnership of the two companies will allow TGM to serve their customers with a broader assembly and integration capability for future growth in addition to its proven metal fabrication capabilities.”
“The move from one shift to three shifts will allow the joint operations to manage existing Turnkey Fabrication business as well as TGM’s growth in several sectors,” said TG Manufacturing Chief Operating Officer Kevin Kyle. “Our expanded production and capacity within our fabrication operations due to the acquisition, along with the vertical process capability within other divisions of TGM, will continue to add to the TGM value proposition of one-stop, fully integrated metal systems solutions.”
TG Manufacturing, Craft Steel and Turnkey Fabrication management teams are working together to integrate Turnkey’s operations and employees into the TG Manufacturing Craft Steel operation.
